I’m going to go out on a limb and assume that your goal isn’t just to lose weight. It’s to lose weight and the maintain that weight loss, not regain it again & continue with the cycle of gain & loss.
 
Right?!

Your goal is to *maintain* your weight loss.

 
People who use extreme measures to lose weight in the first place often find that one of two things happens:
they have to continue doing those extreme measures to maintain their weight and/or
they gain the weight right back when they stop.
 
Not what you’re going for, right?
 
Dieting (eating at a calorie deficit – whatever means you take to make that happen) is intended to be short-term, not a way of life.
 
Where a lot of people go wrong is that they focus so exclusively on the *loss* part, that they have no idea what to do when it comes to maintaining!
 
People who lose weight and keep it off have MASTERED THE BASICS! Regardless of what methods they used to lose the weight, they have a stable foundation of skills to fall back on when the goal changes from “lose weight” to “maintain weight.”

What are these basic skills I’m talking about?

 

People who successfully maintain their weight loss:
-Are in tune with their body’s hunger/fullness cues (first step: slow down & pay attention).
-Eat until they’re satisfied, not stuffed (first step: slow down & pay attention. Think, “could I dance or go for a run right now? At this level of fullness?”)
-Eat balanced meals consisting of whole foods in the form of lean protein, veggies, smart carbs, and healthy fats. Almost. All. The. Time.
-Can eyeball appropriate portions for their body, goals, and activity level without weighing and measuring every morsel they eat.
 
Here’s the funny thing: People who do all of the aforementioned with extreme consistency (80-90% of the time) HAVE LITTLE NEEED FOR “DIETS” because focusing on these changes is also the simplest way to *lose* weight.
