If Google and social media have taught us anything, it’s that there’s ALWAYS going to be someone talking about the “next best thing” to get you the results you want in no time.

At EA Coaching, our coaches want to see you find a lifetime of success, so we don’t believe in the “next best thing” that’s going to leave you frustrated after a couple of weeks.

We believe in helping you get to the root of what’s been holding you back and then walking along side you as you build the skills necessary to become the most confident version of yourself.

The Benefits of Long-Term Support

Our Gone for Good program is a total of 12-weeks of coaching and support and I believe that is the bare minimum anyone needs in order to build a foundation of lasting change.

What I have found, however, is that the benefits of long-term support beyond that initial 12-weeks are where most people learn to settle in for long-term success.

This happens because, while you may build new habits in those first three months, you often don’t have the experience under your belt to continue when sh*t hits the fan.

This isn’t true for everyone though.

We have had clients complete their 12-weeks then stepped out on their own and have continued to find success, but for those who need that extra practice with someone guiding them through the tough spots, we offer more long-term coaching.

The benefits of long-term support are numerous, but some of the most important include:

  • someone to hold you accountable to the commitments you made to yourself when you would otherwise give in to frustrations
  • a safe space for the reflection and understanding necessary for growth as you work to create consistency in your life
  • time to build trust with your coach so they can help you build confidence in yourself.

The Coaching Relationship

We understand that lasting results take time so our three month minimum program is set up in a way that allows us to learn about our clients on a deeper level.

We don’t just ask about your stats and throw some numbers at you to plug into an app and wish you luck.

We spend those 12-weeks getting to know you as a person and learning the best way to support you in that timeframe so you can walk away at the end of those three months with a better understanding of how to be the best version of yourself.

So how does the coaching relationship evolve if you choose to stay on beyond the initial 12-weeks?

You will continue to receive support, but the time beyond the first three months allows us to really dig into more of who you are and what makes you tick.

Think about it like any relationship – in the beginning you want the other person to think the very best about you so you’re always putting your best foot forward.

So if you’ve just moved in with someone, you’re washing the dishes every night, keep the bathroom clean, tidying up your room any chance you get so they see this ideal version of who you can be.

Now think about what that same relationship might look like six months down the road when you’re more comfortable with each other.

You’re probably letting dishes sit for a little longer, maybe there’s some toothpaste left in the sink every now and then and you don’t always replace the toilet paper roll, and there are days when it looks like someone ransacked your room.

You start to see more about who the other person is on a much deeper level when life gets messy.

This is what you do with your coach too!

After those initial 12-weeks you may start to let them in a little more and then the two of you can work together to “fix” the deeper issues that you may have kept hidden at first.

You may also find that you and your coach actually have more in common than you think which will work to strengthen the coaching relationship and allow for them to offer personal insight into your struggles.

How long should you work with a weight loss coach?

So you don’t want to have a coach forever?

Great!

We don’t want that for you either.

We want you to build the toolboxes and create the habits you need to go out on your own and find lifelong success without us.

Our goals is for you to take advantage of all of the benefits of long-term support and then be able to confidently implement on your own.

The balance here is figuring out when the right time to step out on your own is.

You can start by asking yourself, “Why am I why am I still here?”

Is it because you’re scared you can’t do it on your own?

If so, you probably have some work to do around taking ownership and building your confidence so you can realize that it’s not the coach that’s making you successful, but rather your own doing.

If the answer to that question is, “Well I know what to do and I could do it on my own, but I like having support,” then stick around for as long as it’s still serving you.

If you realize that you’re confident that you can do it on your own and you want to try, then do it!

Take that step out on your own and continue building the life you want with all of the knowledge you’ve gained from coaching.

The one caveat to add here is that, there’s also no shame in coming back for support after leaving. If you ever find that you’re in a difficult season of life and you know you’d benefit from having someone in your corner again, come back.

Jump back into that coaching relationship with someone who believes in you and will let you borrow that belief for as long as you need.

So, in the end, “How long should you work with a weight loss coach?” is a personal question that only you can answer, but your coach will be there to help you work through it as well.
