Many of us have a running internal script that sounds like this:
“I’m not consistent.”
“I’ve tried everything.”
“I can never stick with anything.”
Over time, those thoughts start to feel like facts. Not just observations, but identity statements.
And once we’ve labeled ourselves that way, it’s easy to get stuck there.
But the truth is, most of these labels are just reflections of our past—not permanent truths about who we are or what we’re capable of.
What If It’s Not Inconsistency—But Experimentation?
Trying different workouts, testing new habits, changing routines—these aren’t signs that you’re failing. They’re signs that you’re experimenting. And that’s a good thing.
In this episode, I talk about the difference between bouncing around with no direction and intentionally experimenting to find what works for you.
Experimentation gives you data. It helps you build a version of health that fits your personality, preferences, and life—without trying to cram yourself into someone else’s plan.
You’re Allowed to Evolve
Just because something used to be true (“I never follow through,” “I always quit”) doesn’t mean it still is. You’re not required to carry an outdated identity just because you’ve believed it for a long time.
Letting go of labels opens the door to growth.
And treating your habits like experiments—where the goal is to learn, not prove—makes it easier to keep going without all the judgment.
Bottom Line
You don’t have to get it perfect.
You don’t have to fit inside a label.
You’re allowed to try, learn, adjust—and keep moving forward.
