61. Coach Spotlight: Meet Emilia

Ep 61 Meet Coach Emilia

In This Episode

This is the first episode in a 3-part series where I’m interviewing the coaches of EA Coaching!  Today you’ll meet Coach Emilia and hear more about her experiences, her approach and the advice she has to help you reach your goals.

One of the things that is really important to me in our 1:1 coaching program is that you get to know your coach as a person and vice versa.

We get to know you and your family and your background. What makes you happy, what makes you tick and what makes you you.

And I feel like in order for you to feel comfortable opening up to us, it helps for you to know a thing or two about who we are and our backgrounds.

Coach Emilia is a mom of 2 girls, head coach at F45, and EA Coaching 1:1 & Club coach.  Along with her experience in fitness and nutrition she incorporates her background in social work and psychology into her coaching.

She played soccer for most of her young life and tried tons of other activities, but she also struggled with body image because her muscular build didn’t fit in with many of the thinner athletic girls she knew.

Sports and lifting weights helped her to focus and block out stress of the outside world.

She also had an interest in nutrition as a teen and as she started to learn what did and didn’t work for her body, she learned to embrace her body and strength.

Health became less about how she looked and more about how powerful she felt.

This still what Emilia comes back to through the experiences of having babies and watching her body change over time.

She says, “It’s just reminding myself that it’s not just about what I look like, physically, it’s my mental strength, my spiritual strength…that stuff is just as important as the outside.”

Emilia also shares:

  • Focusing on how you feel, rather than a number on the scale
  • How to approach different seasons of life
  • Why she left her job in HR to pursue her passion
  • What she loves most about 1:1 coaching
  • Her advice for creating routines and habits that work for you and finding connection and motivation in community on those days when you can’t seem get motivated on your own
  • Her favorite food, exercise and place to be

I can’t wait for you to hear more of Emilia’s story and get to know her!

139. Mastering Resilience (Why It Matters & How To Do It)

How old were you when you first thought about changing your body?

If some of the first weight or body image related experiences from your childhood – like attending WW meetings as a 12-year-old – are still having an impact on how you view yourself today, this episode is for you.

I’m reviewing Mastering Resilience, by Lorry Leigh Belhumeur, and sharing the steps you can take to not only heal yourself but ensure that you break the cycle of self-loathing for the next generation.

Learning to use those adverse experiences to fuel your desire to make positive changes to become the happiest, healthiest, and most confident version of yourself is the first step in changing your story.

138. Phases of Progress

Have you ever heard the saying, “If it was easy, everyone would do it”?

This is true for almost anything that’s worth doing – starting a new job, renovating your house, and, yes, even losing weight.

The truth is that it’s usually not the end goal that makes everything feel unattainable, but rather the phases of progress you have to go through to reach your goal.

I know we all want our progress to be fast, easy, and predictable.

But it’s just not.

Every single one of us works through four phases of progress, some of which are much more trying than others.

I’m breaking them all down in this episode to help normalize exactly what it looks like to make progress that lasts.
