In This Episode

Happy Valentine’s Day!  On a day that we celebrate love, this episode is all about self-love.  I’m giving you 23 different ways you can develop love for yourself, so there is something here for everyone!

I know that self love and concepts like this can feel a little woo-woo and may not be your cup of tea, but in my experience, the things we resist are often the things we need most

Self-love isn’t just about saying mantras in the mirror all day or some out-there rituals.

An article in Psychology Today says, “Self love is not simply a state of feeling good. It’s a state of appreciation for oneself that grows from actions that support our physical, psychological and spiritual growth. It’s dynamic, and it grows through actions that mature us.”

It goes on to share some of the many benefits of practicing self-love, including being more accepting of our weaknesses, feeling more confident, and being more in touch with our purpose.

I think we can all agree that those would be pretty great areas to grow into.

So, I’m sharing 23 ways you can develop self-love.

Thoughts, actions, habits, relationships, we’re getting into it all.

Some of these will resonate more with you than others, so I encourage you to take what will serve you and leave the rest.

Pick 2 or 3 from this list and actually implement them.

Even if you’re already feeling pretty great right now, we can all use a little more love.

I hope that you use this episode as an opportunity to find something that you love about yourself and to begin improving the relationship you have with yourself.

139. Mastering Resilience (Why It Matters & How To Do It)

How old were you when you first thought about changing your body?

If some of the first weight or body image related experiences from your childhood – like attending WW meetings as a 12-year-old – are still having an impact on how you view yourself today, this episode is for you.

I’m reviewing Mastering Resilience, by Lorry Leigh Belhumeur, and sharing the steps you can take to not only heal yourself but ensure that you break the cycle of self-loathing for the next generation.

Learning to use those adverse experiences to fuel your desire to make positive changes to become the happiest, healthiest, and most confident version of yourself is the first step in changing your story.

138. Phases of Progress

Have you ever heard the saying, “If it was easy, everyone would do it”?

This is true for almost anything that’s worth doing – starting a new job, renovating your house, and, yes, even losing weight.

The truth is that it’s usually not the end goal that makes everything feel unattainable, but rather the phases of progress you have to go through to reach your goal.

I know we all want our progress to be fast, easy, and predictable.

But it’s just not.

Every single one of us works through four phases of progress, some of which are much more trying than others.

I’m breaking them all down in this episode to help normalize exactly what it looks like to make progress that lasts.
