You Can Lose Weight At Any Age

Meet Linda, Marianne, Melinda, and Patti; four of our clients who are in their mid 50s to early 70s and have successfully lost weight and kept it off.

They all come from different backgrounds, but had one thing in common when they reached out to us at EA Coaching – they felt stuck.

Whether it was from years of fad diets and seeing the losses and gains or years of consistent exercise, but feeling like the scale had stopped moving, all four of these ladies had started believing this idea that losing weight in your 50s was just impossible.

The Misconceptions

When you think about losing weight in your 50s, I know that your brain likely jumps straight to all of the reasons you can’t:

You’ve waited too long and now it’s too late for you.

Being overweight is just something that happens as you age, and you can’t stop it.

Once you start menopause everything stops so what’s the point of even trying?

You’re certainly not alone if you’ve thought these things! So many women believe the same and then let this nonsense dictate their lives! 

You CAN flip the script and find success in losing weight in your 50s (and beyond) when you focus on the things that matter most.

The Big Rocks

The “Big Rocks” are important at any age but when you’re losing weight in your 50s, 60s, 70s, they become even more important.

So what are “Big Rocks”?

  • Calories
  • Protein
  • Fiber
  • Strength Training
  • Walking
  • Rest

These are what Linda, Marianne, Melinda, and Patty have mastered and know to be the most important parts of their weight loss (and maintenance) journeys.

Losing weight in your 50s (and beyond) doesn’t need to be complicated or miserable.

All you need is to understand the nutrition and exercise “Big Rocks”, and how to apply them to YOUR life.

What You Can Learn from Our Clients

Like most women, Linda, Marianne, Melinda, and Patti believed the myths that society told them about losing weight in your 50s and beyond.

They believed it was too late, too difficult, and that their bodies were working against them.

Marianne told herself that it was too late to start:

“I was with the trainer and one of the other women that worked out with her was a good bit older and she had gotten really fit and immediately I’m like ‘Oh, I could never do that. I’ll never be that strong…I didn’t start early enough,’ and you know it just cycled over and over in my head.”

But, what Marianne and the others also believed is that there had to be a better way and that’s what they found when they joined EA Coaching.

Linda credits the incredible toolbox of tools she’s built through the program to her ability to lose and maintain her weight:

“So I think it’s just all the tools that you’ve given us, the, you know, the group, the contests that we’ve had, I’ve really enjoyed the different things, listening our weekly calls, learning how to track what’s important, the big rocks, all of that…You know, it’s just, it’s amazing. When you have the tools, you know, the roadmap, you can do it.”

Patti shares how the growth mindset she’s developed since working with EA Coaching has helped her shape her life for the better:

“I want to age in a good manner…and when that click finally happened, I think that’s the thing that kind of keeps me going is that I want to live a long life, God willing, and I want to be able to be as independent as possible in that life.”

I know losing weight in your 50s and beyond and the habit changes that come along with that can feel really daunting, but if you make the commitment, the outcome can be so rewarding.

As Melinda said, “The thing that is so fabulous is that there’s nothing like getting in shape at this age…it makes you feel like you can do anything…knowing that at this age, I can do all those things is just like crazy confidence, right, so it really does pour over into other parts of your life.”

The ladies also shared what they’d tell their younger selves:

  • prioritize yourself – it’ll make your life so much better
  • don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do anything you set your mind to
  • start now – wherever you are, whatever it looks like, just start now

Losing weight in your 50s and beyond is possible and these incredible women are proof.
