All About Inflammation & Gut Health with RD Lauren Moss

In This Episode

I’m really excited about today’s podcast – we’re talking all about inflammation & gut health with RD Lauren Moss.

The topic of inflammation and gut health is a hot button issue in the nutrition world and Lauren is a fan favorite on the podcast, so it just made sense to bring her back to address this topic.

These buzz words are often tossed around with misinformation which can lead to unnecessary panic and attempts to overhaul parts of life that probably don’t need to be overhauled.

Lauren shares with us the definitions of these words and digs a little deeper into what they may mean for you. She also shares some signs and symptoms to be on the lookout for and what to do if you begin noticing them in your life.

She tells us that while understanding inflammation is an important part of understanding our overall well-being, that just because a test comes back and indicates that there’s inflammation in our body that doesn’t necessarily point to a chronic condition.

“These tests only determine if there is inflammation, but it does not determine what kind. So, if you have a mild cold, or you sprained your wrist, the day before, these blood tests will come back saying, ‘Yes, you have inflammation,’ but it’s maybe from the cold, it’s not necessarily chronic.”

If your body is holding onto chronic inflammation, however, the best thing you can do for it is to focus on making small changes that can improve your overall health along the way.
If you’ve been around for any length of time, you’ve likely heard us talk about the “Big Rocks” and those are what we’re talking about here too.

When it comes to gut health, Lauren says that while most people hear the term and just assume it means their stomach, what it is referring to is the gut microbiome which is the bacteria, fungi, yeast, and viruses throughout the intestines and balancing the good and the bad.

Lauren shares some of the signs to look out for if you think you may have an imbalance and the things you can do to correct it.

I guarantee this episode will answer a ton of questions you didn’t even know you had and will help you avoid social media “professionals” making dubious claims about them.
